What can I expect during the first therapy session?

Your initial session is a chance for us to get to know each other better. Prior to your first therapy session, you will have completed a biopsychosocial evaluation in which your therapist gathers background information. This process typically takes 1-3 sessions. During this time, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, your goals, and any questions or concerns you may have. It's also an opportunity for you to see if you feel comfortable working with a therapist.

How long does therapy take?

This will depend on you and how consistently you attend therapy. 90% of change happens outside the therapy session, so it will depend a lot on what you do after each session (e.g., homework activities). Missed sessions will result in slower overall progress. Additionally, length will also depend on your therapeutic goals. You can expect to see results after a few weeks of consistent therapy if you follow through with your therapist's recommendations.
